Wearing a facemask is now part of our daily routine but safety is priority to defeat Covid-19 and we all need to do our part. Unfortunately as you may well have experienced, wearing a facemask can cause irritation, because as you breathe you find that your lenses fog constantly.
Along with your eye health, we are of course now focusing on your safety when you visit us. As with most places you visit now, things are a little different. Read on to find out more on what to expect when you next visit us.
When the Covid-19 pandemic first hit us, it left many of our customers struggling as they were advised not to leave their homes. Some needed repairs or were awaiting their new specs to arrive in-store, others needed their contact lenses or had concerns about deteriorating vision. Then lockdown occurred and we reluctantly had to close all stores, adding to the difficulties our customers (and ourselves) faced.
As soon as it is safe for us to reopen, we'll do so - and look forward to seeing you all again. When that time comes (hopefully in the not-too-distant future) you can be assured that not only your eye care will be our priority, but your safety too.
Did you know that almost one in five children aged 5-15 years, rising to almost one in three 16-19 year olds need vision correction yet only about one in twelve of those who could wear contact lenses currently do so. Many more children and teens would potentially benefit from contact lenses.
The vast majority of children will at some point or another appear to blink or squint excessively. The reason can often be something as simple as tiredness or even the central heating causing dry eyes. Anxiety can also cause this, so think about whether or not they have just started something new like Nursery or School.
Right now, we are all spending a LOT more time indoors at home, whether through self-isolation or simply abiding by the Government advice to stay home where possible. It's a concept we're not used to, and for many it can feel quite a struggle... we've all been robbed of our social needs.
