On 12th December 2022, Neil Furminger who is a customer at our Seaford store, will be rowing 3000 miles across the Atlantic, alongside his rowing partners Matt Garman and Steve Woolley. This amazing feat is in support of their local charity, the WOLO Foundation and also for Prostate Cancer UK.
'My Sighted Guide' is a service offered by The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. A sighted guide is a voluntary role which takes up a few hours per week. As a sighted guide you will undergo training and learn to safely guide someone with sight loss, navigating environments and building self-confidence.
Believe it or not, corneal transplants have been around since the late 1800s and the procedure has been carried out routinely since the 1960s.
Since lockdowns began, we have noticed an increase in customers suffering with headaches and reduced quality of vision. It is likely that excessive screen time could be a contributing factor in this increase.
On Saturday we said farewell to long-standing member of the team, Deborah Chambers, who retired after over 30 years of loyal service at Barracloughs.
To say that 2020 has been a turbulent year is an understatement. Everyday life for most of us came to a grinding halt in March, leaving the world struggling. Many were forced to work from home or worse, lose their jobs. Schools closed too, and we had to remain indoors in an attempt to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Wearing a facemask is now part of our daily routine but safety is priority to defeat Covid-19 and we all need to do our part. Unfortunately as you may well have experienced, wearing a facemask can cause irritation, because as you breathe you find that your lenses fog constantly.
