As a healthcare setting, we will continue to require face coverings from Monday 19th July, as advised by our optical professional bodies. We appreciate your understanding of the need for this, especially given the difficulty to avoid close proximity between staff and customers during the sight test and spectacle dispensing.

We're still catching up from lockdown, please contact us if you are struggling with your vision or if you are overdue. We will still contact customers who are due.

Online booking is currently disabled to allow us to prioritise appointments, but this facility will be returning in November 2021.

Please read on to explore the new measures we have put in place to ensure your safety and the safety of our teams during these difficult times.

Along with your eye health, we are of course now focusing on your safety when you visit us. As with most places you visit now, things are a little different. Please do not arrive early for your appointment as we are unable to allow you inside until it is time for you to be seen. Read on to find out more on what to expect when you next visit us.

Our doors are now unlocked

You'll be asked to wait at the door

All visits are still currently by appointment only but upon arrival you'll see that our doors are no longer locked.  If there are too many people in-store at that time, you'll be asked kindly to wait at the barrier inside the store. You can clean your hands with the sanitiser provided. We still require all visitors to wear a face mask or covering please. Please see here for how to make and wear face coverings.

We have installed protective screens on all reception desks, ensuring the safety of you and the safety of our teams.

Any waiting areas will offer seats that are spaced well away from each other. We would ideally like you to visit alone but we appreciate this is not always possible.

Our floors are clearly marked to guide you through. We are also limiting the number of people in store at any one time, to allow adequate distancing.

Our optometrists, dispensing opticians and optical dispensers will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment as some close contact will be unavoidable.


Any spectacles tried on are washed afterwards

Any frames which are tried on by customers are sanitised before being returned to the frame display stands.


Contact-free measurements and imaging

Non-contact measurements

All facial measurements are now taken from a distance using our 3D video measurement mirror and in some instances we avoid using 'air puff' tests on your eyes (where possible). Digital retinal imaging is also now carried out during all sight exams. Read more on investments to keep you safe.

We recommend the use of contactless payments and our card payment terminals are disinfected after each use.


Scheduled cleaning breaks

Each day the team take scheduled cleaning breaks to deep clean the practice. Our optometrists also thoroughly clean the consulting room/equipment following each appointment. We are closed each day between 1pm and 1:40pm for a deep clean and lunch break.


 

We hope all of these measures put you at ease, the last thing we'd want is for you to delay your routine sight examination because of safety concerns. Even more so as the lockdown will have caused many of you to now be overdue your appointments.
