Coronavirus - keeping hygiene to a maximum stars

UPDATE, 23 March 2020: We have made the decision to temporarily close all stores after Tuesday 23 March 2020. We need to ensure your safety and the safety of our teams.

Amid the developing Coronavirus situation, we wanted to take a moment to reassure you of the actions we are taking during these uncertain times.

The health of yourselves and of our teams is our biggest priority. We are closely following the advice of Public Health England and the World Health Organisation and introducing a wide variety of measures to minimise the impact to public health.

Cleaning in our stores has been hugely intensified, with our teams regularly sanitising their hands, and maintaining as much distance as possible when working with customers. We have introduced additional scheduled cleaning breaks where we deep clean the premises. This means that our temporary opening hours at all stores are now:

9.00am – 1.00pm and 1.45pm – 5.00pm

At present it is difficult to know how long businesses will remain open, that all depends on the government's decision. All the while we can, we will be here to help you. If closures are forced, we will contact you.

Any of our team members who show even mild signs of flu-like symptoms have been advised to follow the Government advice surrounding medical care and self-isolation, and we are ensuring that team members are supported fully during this time.

We will continue to monitor the situation and follow direction given by the Government and will take whatever action is necessary to protect the health of our customers and our teams. As always, please keep an eye on the NHS recommendations.

  • If you have the above symptoms symptoms, stay at home for 7 days
  • If you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms
  • If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.

If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible.

If you have any concerns or needs in regards to collections of spectacles or supply of contact lenses, please do not hesitate to contact us. We want to look after our valued customers.

Stay safe and look after those around you as well.

Stroke Awareness Day

On Saturday, our Battle team welcomed the Rotary Club of Senlac in-store for a Stroke Awareness Day. A third of those people whose blood pressure was checked were referred to their GP for further investigation. The Rotary Clubs of Senlac and Battle worked with the Stroke Association to make people aware of the risks of strokes at an event in Battle. Some 40 people were seen and thirteen of those exhibited a blood pressure outside the normally expected range.

Demodex Mites and How to Fight Them

It's not a nice thought, but Demodex is the most common microscopic mite found in the human skin. These mites can be found on your eyelids and Demodex prevalence increases with age. It is observed in 84% of the population at age 60 and an incredible 100% of the population over the age of 70.
